Paper Hearts & Strawberry Tarts

Why Celebrate Valentines ?

February 14 is a day nationally set-aside to celebrate love and affections. Stores sell billions of candy hearts, and millions of roses each year for Valentines. Will you be joining the celebration?

Is valentines just for couples? NO! It’s a chance to show appreciation for anyone important in your life: family, teachers, friends. Send them a card, deliver flowers, or any other thoughtful gesture to show you’re thankful they’re in your life.

5Ways to Celebrate

There’s a million an one ways to celebrate this day, a simple note & heart shaped cookie, or a dozen roses and a classy steak-house. You can gather with a few friends and feast off a festive charcuterie, or hit up a coffee shop with your bestie.

We’ve gathered a few ideas for the big day, some are original while others follow the traditional approach.

1.Breakfast in Bed

Cook up a stack of pancakes, drizzle with syrup, and a dusting of powdered sugar. Decorate a tray with fresh flowers, a glass of juice, and that plate piled high. Add your personal valentine and serve it up with a smile!

2.Spa Night

Bring on the foot soaks! Invite some friends for a spa night/afternoon, and have everyone bring their favorite tub, bath salts, lotions, face masks, and other spa-ish items. Complete the event with a fun valentine’s snack!

3.Explore a Store

Now’s the time to go explore that new boutique, or stop by the local attraction you’ve never experienced. It aways more fun with a group, so take a friend, or that special someone!

4.Try a New Cuisine

Maybe there’s a new restaurant in town, or ‘that place’ you’ve always driven by and never stopped at because you can’t decipher the menu :) Give it a go! You might be surprised how your tastebuds respond!

5.Host a Party

Wanna do something extra this year? Plan a party for your friends, parents, children, or other special people in your life. Make it complete with fun decorations and fancy food!

5 Sweet Heart Treats

What’s not to love about a dark smooth chocolate fudge, or a creamy, indulgent cheesecake with a rich raspberry swirl.... These treats are delicious and so fun to make! And there’s no better excuse to indulge in them than, ‘it’s Valentine’s day!’

1.Macarons

A macaron is a delicate, sweet, French meringue-based cookie, made from almond flour, egg whites, and sugar. It is formed into two smooth, round shells with a signature ruffled "foot" and sandwiched with a creamy filling like buttercream, ganache, or jam. Resulting in a light, chewy, and flavorful treat with a crispy exterior.

Try something new this year! These elegant little pastries aren’t as intimidating as they look! With a few ingredients, a recipe, and some inspiration, you can whip up your first batch. Flavors are endless making this a dessert for all seasons, simply change the color, use a different filling, and decorate accordingly! So fun!

Heart-shaped brownies are beautiful and incredibly simple. Make your favorite brownies, cool, and use a cookie cutter to form hearts. (Psst. the scraps can be used to make brownie balls and dipped in chocolate OR you can eat them right then and there for a snacky snack!)

Peppermint Bark is a fun, festive, child-friendly recipe! Children will love all the noise they can make breaking up the peppermint candy, and feel grown-up making their treat!

3.Cheesecake

"The only way cheese is dessert is when it's followed by the word cake." – Michele Gorman.

Indulge in creamy, smooth, velvety cheesecake sensations. Once again flavor options are endless. Raspberry swirl, Chocolate peppermint, Peanut Butter, Mini Cheesecakes...

Decorate with lots of chocolate, whipped cream, sprinkles, berries, fruit swirls, powdered sugar dustings, etc.
