Little Jeannie loves school. She longs to grow up and become a teacher like Miss Gail. But Jeannie isn’t sure she’ll ever be big and strong and brave enough to be a teacher.
At home Jeannie plays school and store with her two older sisters, helps make mouse cookies, and takes care of a baby goat that needs a mother. When tiny Granny Otto comes to visit, she tells stories and encourages Jeannie to be brave and not worry about her size.
When her little brother is in danger, Jeannie is brave without even thinking. And when small, cheerful Miss Shirley comes to take Miss Gail’s place at school, Jeannie discovers that even small people can be good teachers.
